DRUNK EMOTIONAL FOOLS...

                                                                                         BY-
                                                                                            ADARSH SINHA
People often choose liquor and its calming influence to vent out their hidden secrets and those deep philosophical thoughts which otherwise are hidden and buried deep inside them in some corner of their heart. Oh yes, these drunkards often create chaos and amidst all these brouhaha hurt the sentiments and feelings of their closed ones but I am not talking about those regular drunkards or those regular visitors of a bar or a pub for satisfying their thirst of alcohol.
I am talking about that class of drunkards who are not a regular visitor to this world of alcohol, I am talking about those people who turn into emotional fools after gulping down few drinks. I am talking about the “occasional drinkers” (a class I belong to).
I don’t know how do mature people behave under the influence of “Lord Alcohol” but I do know how a random, average Indian teenager behaves specially if that teenager is emotional by heart. So why am I  sharing or even contemplating of sharing this here, well maybe because I am still guilt- ridden with whatever I did after gulping down a  few drinks in a matter of 20 minutes, whatever happened after that was chaotic!!!
A bottle of whiskey, a sim which allows you to make unlimited phone calls and you and your loneliness with a tinge of quietness of February nights…all these ingredients are enough to wreak havoc in the lives of emotional fool drunkards. If you haven’t yet guessed my next move then I am sorry but time’s up, let me help you out with this, “drunk dial”, I hope many of you will be familiar with this term. A drunk dial is a term created just for our class of emotional drunkards, calling someone under the influence of alcohol and telling them whatever you feel about them which otherwise you wouldn’t have blurted out in your wildest of dreams!!! The best part is you don’t even remember the entire conversation, you remember them in parts and percentages and if you are lucky enough and if your smartphone has an automatic call recorder which records all your calls then maybe you will get to know about your heroics you did last night.
All of a sudden you will start thinking about your younger siblings and how you didn’t care about them and you owe an apology to them. This is indeed a very vulnerable stage for these occasional class of drunkards because emotions overpower our mind and heart like always and we end up doing something extremely stupid and insane. After talking to your younger sibling for almost 45 minutes and leaving that person in a state of shock you disconnect your call and march ahead confidently towards the next and probably the most dangerous person one can ever imagine drunk dialing…your EX!!!
All of a sudden she picks up your call in a semi sleep mode and automatically answers that call asking that unknown caller not to disturb at such an odd hour…”hello”, that’s all you can blabber after stammering for 30 seconds…and yes, she still recognizes your voice!!! There is now a storm running inside your head, you start feeling dizzy and you start feeling pangs of happiness inside that alcoholic head of yours.
I don’t know how do mature people behave or deal with such situations but for emotional fools, you are left with no other option but to live that moment. Suddenly your mind takes you in that flashback zone and you start reliving those moments you had spent with her, and you spend the rest of your night talking and pouring your heart out in front of her without any expectations of getting back your share of love from her. Alcohol and emotions govern you and that night, the best part is, and she keeps on listening to your nonsense and not for a single second disconnects your call. That night you talk to her sans any expectation of winning her back and sans any fear of losing her. It’s difficult to describe that feeling if you haven’t felt it yet but I think that’s why we are labelled as emotional fools because we do crazy things without expecting anything in return.
I don’t want to go into the next morning after you wake up and the guilt you feel after that because for an emotional fool like me it will lessen the importance of that night and that moment. Our class of drunkards do whatever they feel after being consumed by alcohol which is not entirely right but at least speaking out your heart is still better than not speaking anything.
It’s important to live in the present moment and embrace those little things which create a memory in your mind because in the end their will only be memories with you which will make you smile and laugh along with your close ones.
I know there will always be a tug of war between the matured ones and the emotional fools and frankly I don’t care about the result. All I care about is this present moment and the memories related to this beautiful moment. J
